Sack Gbajabiamila over alleged fake agency, appointment sale scandal, NDC tells Tinubu

The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to immediately remove his Chief of Staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, over allegations linking him to an alleged corruption scandal involving a purported government agency and the sale of public appointments.
The opposition party made the demand in a statement issued on Friday by its National Publicity Secretary, Osa Director.
The NDC said it was disturbed by allegations made by Prince Mathew Adeniyi Adeyemi, who claims to be the Director-General of the alleged Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC), an agency the Presidency has reportedly denied exists.
According to the party, the allegations have raised serious concerns about transparency, accountability and integrity within the Tinubu administration.
The NDC claimed that Adeyemi alleged the purported agency received allocations in the 2026 budget and operated several accounts, including a domiciliary account, a pound sterling account and a Treasury Single Account with the Central Bank of Nigeria.
The party questioned how an agency reportedly disowned by the Presidency could have opened multiple financial accounts and allegedly accessed official government processes.
It also expressed concern over claims that the alleged agency secured approval for 314 staff positions from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation despite questions surrounding its legal existence.
The NDC further referenced allegations that Gbajabiamila demanded 48 per cent of the agency’s take-off grant, valued at about ₦27.4 billion, and that Adeyemi allegedly paid ₦400 million through intermediaries as part of a ₦600 million arrangement to secure his appointment, with an outstanding balance of ₦200 million.
The party, however, did not provide independent evidence to support the allegations, which have not been proven in court.
It also referred to the reported death of Babatunde Tanimola, described as an intermediary in the matter, and allegations by Adeyemi that there had been attempts on his life, saying the developments warranted an independent investigation.
The NDC consequently demanded the immediate suspension of the President’s Chief of Staff to allow for what it described as an impartial probe into the allegations.
The party also called on President Tinubu to establish an independent investigative panel to examine all claims relating to the alleged PFIPC, including its purported budgetary allocations, financial accounts, staff approvals and transactions.
In addition, it urged anti-graft agencies, including the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission and the Nigeria Police Force, to launch a comprehensive investigation into the allegations.
The party further called for an investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tanimola’s death and the alleged attacks on Adeyemi, while recommending that Adeyemi be placed under witness protection pending the outcome of investigations.
“The NDC will not accept the usual tactic of issuing a mere defensive press release from the Presidency as a deflective ploy. Nigerians deserve to know the truth through a transparent process that promotes fairness and justice. The culture of impunity and the brazen sale of public appointments must end,” the statement read.
The party added that anyone found culpable after due investigation, regardless of status, should be prosecuted in accordance with the law.
