Open grazing: Using cattle routes a barbaric, primitive logic – Fani-Kayode

A former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has said that the proposition of usage of grazing routes throughout Nigeria is the biggest threat to the country’s national security.

Fani-Kayode said this in a series of tweets on Tuesday.

President Muhammadu Buhari, during an interview with Arise TV, had said that he ordered the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami to recover grazing routes, as part of solutions to end the farmers-herders clash.

Reacting to the President’s statement, Fani-Kayode described the proposed plan as barbaric and primitive.

“The practice of open grazing & the proposition & insistence of the usage of so-called “cattle routes” throughout the country is the biggest threat to national security in Nigeria. If we do not put a stop to both it is only a question of time before the entire country explodes.

“The suggestion that the right of cows supercedes the rights of human beings is absurd and has no basis in rationality, decency or logic.

“More importantly it has no place in the 21st century. It is a barbaric and primitive logic espoused only by those who belong to another world,” he tweeted.
