Adeleke, in a statement posted Tuesday via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, announced the dual endorsements after a strategic meeting with the PDP leadership caucus in Osogbo.
The development followed weeks of political speculation surrounding his future, with rumours suggesting a possible defection to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
“Yesterday, I met with the @OfficialPDPNig Leadership Caucus in Osogbo after weeks of consultations with stakeholders across Osun — from traditional rulers and civil servants to market leaders and grassroots party members,” Adeleke stated.
He continued, “I remain in the PDP, the party that gave me the platform to serve the good people of Osun. I have been unanimously endorsed by the Osun PDP for a second term in 2026. Our party in Osun has also endorsed President Tinubu for re-election in 2027, recognising him as a proud son of our state.”
Adeleke reaffirmed the PDP’s popularity in Osun State, pledging to stay focused on delivering his administration’s five-point development agenda.
The declaration comes after months of speculation about Adeleke’s political alignment, especially following his high-profile visit to President Tinubu in June.
Accompanied by his elder brother, billionaire businessman Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, and their nephew, award-winning musician Davido, the governor had visited Tinubu at the President’s private residence in Ikoyi, Lagos, sparking rumours of a planned crossover to the APC.
The speculations intensified on July 16 when former APC National Secretary and prominent Osun politician, Senator Iyiola Omisore, described Adeleke as a “political orphan” seeking relevance in the ruling party, a claim the governor swiftly denied.
On multiple occasions, including a July 5 statement, Governor Adeleke reiterated his unwavering commitment to the PDP. He dismissed reports of a planned defection, emphasising his dedication to good governance and party leadership.
“I want to assure the good people of Osun State and Nigerians at large: I remain a loyal member and the leader of the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State. My focus remains on delivering good governance and fulfilling our 5-point agenda for the Osun people,” he wrote.
