President Bola Tinubu has departed Paris, France, for Nigeria after spending about four weeks in Europe, with Lagos set to host his first major engagements following his return.
The President is expected to arrive at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, on Tuesday evening and remain in the state through Nigeria’s 66th Independence anniversary on October 1.
According to a statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu will attend the premiere of a film honouring the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola at the Wole Soyinka National Theatre, Iganmu, on Independence Day.
The President is also expected to hold meetings with political leaders and associates in Lagos as preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum.
Tinubu left Abuja on August 30 for London to begin his annual vacation, before moving to Paris after a week. The Presidency later announced an extension of his stay by a few days.
During his stay in Paris, Tinubu met French President Emmanuel Macron and businessman Vincent Bolloré, whose group has interests in media, entertainment and digital infrastructure.
The President also met billionaire businessman Femi Otedola on Monday, while last week he witnessed the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Ogun State Government and DP World for the proposed development of a deep seaport and Blue Marine Economic Zone in Ogun Waterside.
The Presidency said DP World plans to invest $7bn in the seaport and economic zone.
Tinubu is expected to return to Abuja after his engagements in Lagos next weekend.
