Africa Cup of Nations qualifier: Supporters Club Appeals to Minister, Amaju, Obaseki To Allow Them Cheer Eagles

The National Chairman of the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, Rev. Sam Ikpea on Tuesday appealed to the Minister of Youth and Sports, Sunday Dare and the President of the Nigeria Football Federation, Pinnick Amaju to allow the supporters club intot the main bowl of the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium , Benin City   on Friday to cheer up the Super Eagles when they engage the Leone Star of Sierra Leone in Africa Nation Cup qualifiers.

Ikpea said their presence inside the main bowl with  their usual style of drumming, dancing and singing will be a tonic for the players.

While commending the efforts of the Presidential Task Force on COVID 19,and  the ministry of sports in ensuring life of Nigeria citizens are save., the Supporters Club Chairman said they have done lots enlighten and put reasonable measures for every one of them to obey the COVID 19 protocol.

” We too in the Nigeria Football Supporters Club over times has join in enlightening the masses about the Pandemic. The stadium is a capacity of 15,000 fans. I plead with the PTF , our able minister of sports and the Governor Godwin Obaseki to allow our members which are known as the 12 players while we  observe all the COVID 19  protocols to be part of the match to ensure victory and add glamour to the game. Pinnick has a desire to win AFCON and as well as we in the NFSC.”

Super Eagles 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Sierra Leone is scheduled for Friday 13th November, 2020 , is to be played at the refurbished Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City.

The encounter against fellow West Africans, is the first competitive game to be played by the three-time African champions after Covid-19 pandemic caused football and other sports to be in lockdown for close to one year.

The leadership of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the technical crew of the Eagles are already in Benin with the inspection of the ‘brand new’ Ogbemudia Stadium turf yesterday.
