Insecurity: Army Hands Over 8 Suspected Criminals, N2m, Others To Police

The Nigerian Army has handed over 8 suspected criminals and over 2 million naira cash to the Nigeria Police and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission respectively.
Besides this, 181,000 CFA Franc was equally handed over to the EFCC as well as a 30 tons Cement Mixer Truck.Other exhibits recovered from the suspects include two X pump action guns, one X Barretta pistol, ten X cartridges and six X 9mm Ammo.
The Commander, Sector 4 Land Component Operation Delta Safe (OPDS), Col. Omubo Idoniboye-Obu disclosed this at the sector headquarters while handing over the suspects to the Nigeria Police.
Col. Omubo disclosed that the suspects were arrested between the 16th and 19th of October and have participated in several crimes within the state.
“Todays occasion is yet another handing and taking over of some suspected kidnappers, sea pirates and armed robbery suspects.
“These suspects here before you were arrested during the series of operations conducted by the sector between the 16th and 19th October, 2020.
“Investigations revealed that these suspects were involved in kidnapping and armed robbery.
“Some of the suspects are are ex-convicts while others had been on the wanted lost of the security agencies in the state”, he said.
Some of the suspects include Ita Oku Ndiyo (aka Commander Musty) the leader of a four man gang comprising Atuo Kenneth Martins, Bassey Effiom Okon (aka Eteka Bulldog), Idang Anwakang (aka tallest).
The suspects were involved in the robbery of Mr Jan and Mr Bobby (Cameroonians) on the 9th of October at Okon in Central Cross River State and dispossesed them of 4 million Naira and 181, 000 CFA Franc.
Others are Ajom Daniel, Godwin Buying, Moses Edem Bassey and Bassey Godwin Etim, who kidnapped a number of persons in the state including a staff of Larfarge.
He said as required by the Harmonised Standard Operating Procedure, the Sector officially hands over the suspects to the Commissioner of Police Cross River State Command while the truck and exhibits goes to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
He called on all law abiding Cross Riverians to cooperate with the sector by giving timely and credible information as it is committed to eliminating crimes in the state.
