Cable television giants, DStv and GOtv, have reportedly returned to their previous subscription prices after a court order deemed their recent price hikes unjustified.
Recall that MultiChoice, owner of the cable TV had increased subscription prices in response to high inflation and the devaluation of the naira in Nigeria.
However, the court ruled against this increase, prompting the company to lower its prices back to the original rates.
Reports indicate that the price hike had a significant impact on MultiChoice’s subscriber base in Nigeria, with over a million subscribers lost due to the higher costs.
It remains uncertain whether MultiChoice will comply with the court’s directive to offer a month-free subscription to affected customers.
