Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi on Wednesday paid a visit to Afrobeat singer and saxophonist, Femi Anikulapo Kuti.
This is following the harsh criticism and threats received by the singer from Obi’s supporters over a comment that he can never be “obedient”
“How can you be Obedient in this chaos? I am not Obidient. Tell me, at 60, why am I Obidient? You said I should be Obidient, sit down, be peaceful,” Kuti said.
However, he cleared the air in a statement, claiming that he was misquoted.

Kuti said what he meant by the tweet is that he is “too angry at his age to be obedient”, while recounting what his family had gone through in the hands of Nigerian government.
Obi, upon seeing the tweet, visited Kuti at his residence assuring him that his campaign was based on everyday issues affecting Nigerians and Nigeria and not personality attacks.
Obi said “I saw what my own brother, Femi, tweeted and I said no! that is not what the future and the society we want to build.
“We will lead a campaign based on issues that affect Nigerians and that is what I encourage everybody to do”.
