Again, gunmen attack Soludo’s community in Anambra

...nobody killed - police spokesperson

For the second time in less than three weeks, unknown Gunmen on Friday morning swooped on Isuofia in Aguata local government area of Anambra stage and the hometown of Governor Charles Soludo where they killed a policeman.

Three others sustained gunshot wounds during the attack.

Residents of the community had scampered for safety as the hoodlums shot sporadically at the security men at a checkpoint.

Recall that heavily armed men have three weeks ago descended on Ekwuluobia town and headquarters of Aguata with testimonies of the death of one person and the burning of several properties in the process.

In the latest attack, the policeman was said to have been shot dead at a junction leading to the governor’s house.

A source close to the Isuofia community said the gunmen stormed the area and shot at security operatives stationed in the community which led to the death of the officer.

“The hoodlums stormed the area, shooting nonstop while residents scampered for safety. One policeman was however killed in the process,”  he said.

The Police Public Relations Officer of the state command, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu when contacted, confirmed the incident.

The police said the incident did not happen in Soludo community but along the expresses, adding that three police were wounded in the process and that operation was still ongoing.

He also said a vehicle was recovered with bloodstained showing that the hoodlum suffered causality.
