Dr. Ramatu Tijani Aliyu, Minister of State, FCT has ordered the immediate clean-up if satellite towns in the FCT.
A statement issued late Tuesday evening by Austine Elemue, SA Media to the Minister of State stated that the order came as the minister became disturbed by the poor environmental condition of neighborhoods across the six Area Councils of the FCT.
Aliyu, gave the order in Abuja and directed the Coordinator of the Satellite Towns Development Department (STDD) to take charge so as to swiftly ensure the restoration of the environment for the safety of the residents, as well as evolving environmentally friendly communities.
She noted that the situation of waste generation in the FCT has an exponential trend because of the influx of Nigerians into the Capital Territory, peoples’ attitude, lifestyle, and behavior towards their environment.

However, the STDD Coordinator, Comrade Obinna Francis Ogwuegbu has since hit the ground running.
It could be recalled that the Coordinator, Satellite Town Development Department of the FCT has been on the trail of sanitary workers and has embarked on a massive clean-up exercise around and within the six area councils.
The coordinator has assured residents of the FCT that the FCT administration remains committed to ensuring a safer and hygienic FCT for all residents.
The coordinator who added that the exercise would be an ongoing one, appealed to residents, particularly those living in the suburbs to desist from dumping refuse in drainages and by the roadsides.
