Alleged fraud: Rivers Govt files criminal charges against SAIPEM

The Rivers State Government has filed criminal charges against Saipem Contracting Nigeria Limited before the state High Court over its failure to deliver the State’s gas turbine generator unit and accessories abandoned in The Netherlands since 2012.

In the case filed before the Rivers State High Court with suit number NF32FDG2021, Saipem is accused of failing to install gas turbines into the foundations of the OCGT power plant in Port Harcourt after obtaining a 25% advance payment from the State Government.

ThisNigeria reported that the State Government had vowed to initiate criminal proceedings against the company after the 15th Executive Council meeting presided over by Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike at the Government House, Port Harcourt.
