Minister of the FCT, Nyesom Wike has recalled how former Rivers Governor , Rotimi Amaechi removed Rivers PDP leader, Celestine Omehia’s picture from the gallery of the state’s past governors.
Recall that Omehia was removed as governor after the Supreme Court declared Amaechi the winner of the 2007 Rivers guber election.
Speaking to newsmen on Tuesday, Wike revealed that Amaechi, upon resuming office, took down Omehia’s picture, saying he was never a governor.
Wike, however, mentioned that he reinstated Omehia’s picture out of political goodwill upon his resumption of office as governor.

The Minister stated further that Amaechi and Omehia are first cousins, adding that they teamed up to support Atiku Abubakar during the 2023 presidential election.
“Omehia and Amaechi are first cousins, Amaechi removed Omehia’s picture that he was never governor. It was Amaechi who removed his picture.
” When I became governor, politically to give him a saving face, I put his picture there. But do you know what happened in the last election?
“For all of them to team up and work for Atiku, Amaechi had to reconcile with Omehia by attending Omehia’s daughter’s wedding”, he said.
