APC Applauds Release of Jangebe Schoolgirls

Inaugurates Eight Man Constitutional Review Committee

The All Progressives Congress APC, has applauded the efforts which has led to the release of students who were recently abducted from Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Talata-Marafa Local Government Area of Zamfara State.
Sen. John Akpanudoedehe National Secretary Caretaker/Extraordinary Convention Planning Committee, CECPC, in a statement signed by him noted that the party is committed to securing the lives and property of all Nigerians.
According to him: ” We rejoice with family members and loved ones over the safe return of the schoolgirls. Albeit our security challenges, the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration will stop at nothing to ensure the security and well-being of the people.
” While the Party commends all stakeholders for their selfless roles in securing the release of the schoolgirls, the APC restates President Buhari directive to subnational entities to provide adequate security in all schools within their areas of responsibility.

He reassured that President Buhari has proven that he is capable of addressing the security issues saying the security agents must do everything possible to unmask those sponsoring this attacks against innocent civilians.
” From Dapchi to Jangebe, the President Buhari government has time and again displayed its proactiveness and capacity to address the heinous abductions and ensure quick and safe release of the students. However, the real task is for our security services to unmask the criminal sponsors and enemies of Nigeria behind the wave of targeted attacks on educational institutions in the country.
” We will achieve this through our security services synergised operations and use of modern technological tools to ensure better intelligence gathering, vigilance, surveillance as well as collaboration with communities and stakeholders at different levels”, he said.
Also, the party has inaugurated its Eight Man Constitutional Review Committee to assist in reviewing the constitution so as to ensure all iasues are properly situated for the interest of the party.
Professor Tahir Mamman, SAN, who was appointed chairman of the committee in his remarks said the task entrusted under the committee’s care will be handled with committment stating that the party will do everything possible in ” returning the principal instrument which governs the affairs of the APC”.
He said: ” no doubt, arising from the operation of the Constitution of the party and activities of the party for close to a decade now, a lot has happened that the Constitution of the party did not envisage, both in the structures and organ of the party, relationship among organs and officers, processes etc that may require a second look.
” Of course, a constitution of a political party like that of a country is both a legal and political instrument. It can never address the issues for all times. Much of its success depends on the operators imbibing the spirit of democracy, good faith and a sense of self-control. However, a vibrant constitutional foundation is fundamental for certainty and clarity of Power, Functions, Processes and Privileges in the institution.
Tahir maintained that the Committee whose task is to last for one month said it will ensure the exercise is all inclusive.
” We will be seeking inputs from all interested stakeholders and our existing structures at the state level. We solicit that members across the country should endeavor to be active participants.
” What we will be proposing where desirable, will go through the appropriate superior organs of the and eventually the National Convention”, he said.
