Auto industry holds immense potential for Nigeria’s economic growth – Minister

Minister of State for Industry, Senator John Enoh has declared that the auto industry holds immense potential for Nigeria’s economic growth.

The minister made the declaration at the Automotive Industry Stakeholders’ Conference held on December 16, 2024 in Lagos.

Senator Enoh, who spoke at the conference themed “Strategy for the Current and Sustainable Future of the Auto Industry in Nigeria” believe that the auto industry if maximised will drive job creation, technological advancement and reduce import dependency.

“As we push for economic transformation, our auto industry holds immense potential for: Job creation, Technological advancement and Reduced import dependency,” the minister said.

He reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to supporting local manufacturing, creating access to finance for auto manufacturers, and promoting environmentally sustainable automotive practices.

The minister described the Collaboration between government, industry stakeholders and partners as key to positioning Nigeria’s auto industry for global success.

“Collaboration between government, industry stakeholders, and partners like United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) is key. Together, we can position Nigeria’s auto industry for global success,” he added, while commending, National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), the Federal Ministry of Finance, NAMA, and (UNIDO) for their invaluable contributions.
