Boridelia’s band, Psychedelic Rock
Kindly introduce yourself to the audience, your name, country, and about your brand.
We are Boridelia, a progressive and psychedelic rock band from Puerto Rico. Our music is a fusion of diverse influences, blending spiritual and emotional experiences with intricate soundscapes that take listeners on a journey. We strive to create music that not only resonates on a sonic level but also sparks introspection and connection among our audience.
When did you start music as a career?
We began our journey into the music world as individuals many years ago, each of us exploring our own paths and honing our crafts. However, Boridelia was officially formed in 2020, when we realized that our collective vision could create something truly unique. Since then, we’ve been dedicated to making music that reflects our shared experiences and aspirations.
What genre of music do you do?
Our music sits at the crossroads of progressive rock, psychedelic rock, and spiritual rock, also with some Latin sauce. We draw inspiration from classic bands like Pink Floyd and modern pioneers like Radiohead, infusing our sound with a sense of exploration and depth. We like reggae and we love Bob Marley. It’s a blend that’s hard to pin down to just one genre, which is what makes it so special.
Can you tell us about a particularly memorable moment or experience you’ve shared with your bandmates?
Some of the most memorable experiences were during late-night jams sessions in Camuy Puerto Rico. We were surrounded by nature, completely disconnected from the outside world, and the music just flowed. It was one of those magical moments where everything clicked, and we created something that felt otherworldly. Those nights really solidified our bond as a band and reminded us why we do what we do.
How do you approach collaboration and decision-making within the band?
Collaboration in Boridelia is very organic. We respect each other’s creativity and input, so every decision is a collective one. We all bring different influences and ideas to the table, which allows us to explore a wide range of sounds and concepts. When it comes to decision-making, we try to focus on what’s best for the music and the message we want to convey.
Can you share the inspiration behind your latest album/EP? How did you approach the creative process?
Our latest single, “Time,” was inspired by the concept of time itself—how it shapes our lives, our memories, and our future. We wanted to explore how time can be both a friend and a foe, a guide and a challenge. The creative process was very introspective; we spent a lot of time reflecting on our own experiences and how time has influenced us personally. This introspection translated into the music. We hope it resonates with everyone who listens to it.
How do you think the band’s dynamic has evolved, and what’s contributed to your growth and success together?
Our dynamic has evolved through trust, mutual respect, and a shared vision. Over time, we’ve learned to communicate more effectively, both musically and personally. This growth has been key to our success, allowing us to push boundaries and experiment with new ideas while staying true to our core identity.
How do you approach songwriting? Do you have any specific habits or rituals that help spark creativity?
Songwriting for us is a blend of spontaneity and deliberate effort. We often start with a jam session or a lyrical idea that one of us brings to the table, and then we let it evolve naturally. Some of us meditate or go for a walk in nature to clear our minds and allow inspiration to flow. The key is to stay open to whatever ideas come, without forcing anything.
Who are your biggest musical influences?
Our biggest influences include Pink Floyd for their experimental soundscapes, Radiohead for their emotional depth, The Beatles for their boundary-pushing spirit and Bob Marley for freedom. Also Gustavo Cerati, Spinneta and Yes. These bands have taught us the importance of being fearless in our creativity and always striving to break new ground.
Which instrument is your favorite to play and why?
For me, it’s the guitar. The guitar has an incredible range, capable of expressing everything from raw power to delicate emotion. It’s an instrument that feels like an extension of my own voice, allowing me to channel whatever I’m feeling directly into the music.
How do you stay inspired and motivated as an artist?
Staying inspired comes from constantly seeking new experiences and perspectives. Whether it’s through travel, surfing, reading, or connecting with other artists. We find stepping outside our comfort zones often leads to the most creative breakthroughs. Motivation comes from our desire to share our music with the world and make a lasting impact through our art.
What’s the most important lesson you’ve learned throughout your music career so far?
The most important lesson we’ve learned is to stay true to ourselves. The music industry can be challenging and full of pressures to conform. But our greatest successes have come from following our own path and creating music that is authentic to who we are as a band.
How do you balance the creative aspects of your career with the business side of the music industry?
Balancing creativity with the business side of things is always a challenge, but it’s necessary. We’ve learned to approach the business side with the same level of care and passion that we do with our music. Whether it’s marketing, networking, or managing finances, we treat it as part of the overall artistic process.
Looking back on your career, what do you consider your biggest accomplishment or milestone? What’s still on your bucket list?
Our biggest accomplishment so far has been the release of our single “Time.” It’s a track that we’re incredibly proud of, both in terms of the music and the message behind it. As for our bucket list, we still dream of performing on some of the world’s biggest stages and connecting with fans all over the globe. We also have plans for future albums that we’re really excited about.
What advice would you give to aspiring musicians who are just starting out and trying to make a name for themselves?
Our advice to aspiring musicians is to stay patient and persistent. Success doesn’t happen overnight, and the journey can be full of ups and downs. Stay true to your artistic vision, keep honing your craft, and don’t be afraid to take risks. Most importantly, remember why you started making music in the first place. Let that passion drive you forward, no matter what challenges you face
