Mr Abdu Umar, the new Borno Commissioner of Police, says he plans to adopt technology in fighting crime in the state, in line with the policy of the Inspector General of Police( I-G) Mr. Usman Baba.
Umar said this when he spoke with newsmen shortly after assuming office in Maiduguri on Tuesday.
He said he had already met with Gov. Babagana Zulum and other stakeholders who promised to support the police in discharging their responsibilities.
The commissioner said his deployment to the state coincided with the surrendering of Boko-Haram elements which he described as a welcome development.

Umar said the police would try to encourage others wishing to surrender to do so.
He urged the people to continue to support the police in providing vital information for effective policing in the state.
