Kano State Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba has said that suspected armed bandits on Tuesday night attacked the convoy of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State.

The commissioner according to reports said that the bandits who blocked the Zamfara, Katsina and Kano Road, around Shema Tuesday night attacked the governor’s convoy but Ganduje was not in it.

The security operatives attached to the governor’s convoy engaged the bandits in a gun duel, repelling the attack and opening the way for other vehicles to pass.

The governor had gone to Zamfara to join other governors to welcome the governor of Zamfara state who decamped from the People Democratic Party (PDP) to join the All Progressive Congress (APC).
