Due to insecurity, the Kaduna State Independent Electoral Commission (KADSIECOM) has suspended elections in Kajuru Birnin Gwari, Chikun, and Zangon Kataf local government areas.

The Saturday local government election will hold in other areas.

The Commission’s chairman, Dr Saratu Binta Dikko-Audu, on Friday, said that the suspension followed a security report that it would be impossible to conduct peaceful local government elections.

He also said the suspension was to protect lives and property, including those of election staff and materials.

She said: “The election in these local government areas will now hold on Saturday 25th September 2021.

“It is our belief that the security operatives would be able to fully deploy to these local government areas for election on the stated date in order to prevent any breakdown of law and order as well as loss of lives and property.”
