The World Health Organisation (WHO) has announced the approval of the world’s first malaria vaccine.
Director-General of the organisation, Tedros Ghebreyesus made the announcement in an interview on Wednesday, October 6th.
He stated further that there had been successful immunisation programmes in Malawi, Kenya and Ghana.
“The long-awaited malaria vaccine for children is a breakthrough for science, child health and malaria control,” and “could save tens of thousands of young lives each year,” Ghebreyesus said.
