Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has condemned the killing of late Ezekiel Olapade, describing political violence as unacceptable and calling on security agencies to ensure that those responsible for the act are brought to justice.
Adeleke made the call on Tuesday in a post on his official X handle, following his visit to the family of the deceased, where he expressed his condolences and reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to protecting lives and ensuring accountability.
The governor said the death of Olapade was a painful reminder that political disagreements should never result in the loss of lives, stressing that politics must not be treated as a battle where opponents are targeted through violence.
“Politics is not a do-or-die affair. Political killing should no longer be tolerated in our society, and I urge security agencies to bring the perpetrators of this evil act to justice,” Adeleke said.
He maintained that no citizen should be made to pay the ultimate price because of political differences, urging residents to reject violence and promote peaceful coexistence regardless of political affiliations.
The governor assured the family of the deceased and the people of Osun State that efforts would be made to ensure justice is served, adding that his administration would continue to support measures aimed at ending political-related violence in the state.
Adeleke also called for collective responsibility in upholding the sanctity of human life, noting that a peaceful political environment remains essential for the progress and development of Osun State.
