According to reports, the fight ensued following an order by the market taskforce association to stop the activities of the hoodlums.
The decision to suspend the hoodlums from the market by its taskforce association was reached following allegations of unbearable extortion from traders.
Confirming the attack, the Lagos state police public relations officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin stated that the operatives of the command and Rapid Response Squad(RRS) have been deployed to the area and normalcy has been restored.
“Alaba International Market is calm. Normalcy has been restored. @rrslagos767 and men of Ojo Division are on ground, under the supervision of Area Commander Festac, ACP Igbafe Afegbai. There is no cause for alarm as monitoring continues”.
