Senator representing Imo west and former governor of Imo State, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, has been released by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on administrative bail.
Okorocha was arrested on Tuesday by EFCC operatives for allegedly diverting Imo State’s N7.9 billion into his private property and banks but he has consistently denied the claim by the EFCC.
According to reports Okorocha, was released Thursday after been interrogated for two days in EFCC’s custody.
The condition for his release include providing two former governors or two serving senators from the South East as surety but the former governor was able to produce only a Senator from the Northeast as a guarantor for his release from EFCC custody.
The spokesman for the EFCC, Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed Okorocha’s release.
