Claims I joined NDC lack political, logical basis — Ganduje

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, has denied reports alleging that he has defected to the New Democratic Congress (NDC).

He described posters circulating on social media to that effect as fake and the handiwork of political mischief-makers.

Ganduje, a former governor of Kano State, reaffirmed his commitment to the ruling party in a statement issued on Friday by his former Commissioner for Information and Chief of Staff, Muhammad Garba.

The statement said claims that the former APC chairman had abandoned the party were entirely false and intended to mislead the public, sow confusion among party members and fuel unnecessary political speculation.

According to the statement, Ganduje remains firmly committed to the APC and has never considered leaving the party, which he once led as its national chairman.

Rejecting the reports, Ganduje said he was not a politician who moved from one party to another for personal gain or political convenience.

“It is not only false but also illogical for anyone to insinuate that Ganduje has joined the NDC. Such a claim lacks both political and logical foundation,” the statement read.

He maintained that the APC remains the country’s dominant political party, adding that it continues to enjoy increasing support under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu.

The statement further alleged that the fake posters were deliberately circulated by individuals seeking to tarnish Ganduje’s reputation and create unnecessary anxiety within the ruling party.

It added that those behind the production and distribution of the posters had been identified and warned that legal action would be taken against them if they failed to withdraw the materials and discontinue their circulation.

Ganduje urged APC members, supporters and the general public to disregard the posters, insisting that they did not reflect his political position or future plans.

The former APC chairman also pledged to continue supporting President Tinubu and the party leadership in advancing the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda, while urging Nigerians to rely only on official statements from him and the APC on matters relating to his political activities.
