Coup fever: Kagame retires senior military officers in Rwanda

Rwanda’s President, Paul Kagame, has retired several high-ranking military officers following the military coup in Gabon that ousted President Ali Bongo.
A Wednesday statement by the RDF said President Paul Kagame has retired 83 military personnel including 12 generals.
In the letted dated 30, August 2023, Kagame retired 12 generals, 83 senior military officers, 6 junior officers and 86 senior NCOS.

Kagame is the fourth and current president of Rwanda since 2000.
He previously served as a commander of the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF), a rebel armed force which invaded Rwanda in 1990.
