The Chairman of Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon Ramson Tega Onoyake has banned commercial tricycle (Keke) parks at Jakpa Junction in Effurun metropolis within the council area.
The council boss, who disclosed this to newsmen during his working visit to the area, explained that the ban was aimed at solving the perennial traffic jams at the popular junction.
He, however, advised the affected commercial tricycle riders to use the nearby adjoining streets for their operations, adding that the local government’s determination to ensure that all roads within Uvwie Council Area are refuse free.
He vowed that anybody caught disposing of refuse on roads in the Local Government Area would be dealt with decisively according to the council’s bye laws.

Meanwhile, tragedy struck at Okandeji Street by Ginuwa Junction in Otovwodo Agbassa community, Warri last Thursday as a commercial tricycle rider reportedly hacked a refrigerator repairer to death in the locality.
Witnesses said the tricycle rider in the process of reversing his keke hit a corn vendor, and it triggered a quarrel between the Keke rider and the refrigerator repairer, who was about to patronize the corn vendor.
The quarrel between the two men reportedly snowballed into a fight and the keke rider reportedly hit the refrigerator repairer on the head with a long hard wood, which consequently made the refrigerator repairer to fall and had to be rushed to a nearby clinic for medical attention.

But the refrigerator repairer, according to sources, reportedly died a few hours later from the battery he received from the attack. Meanwhile, the tricycle rider is said to have been arrested by the police over the incident.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Delta State Command, Bright Edafe, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) confirmed the incident saying investigation was ongoing in the matter.
