COVID-19: FCTA charges residents to take booster jabs as 4th wave spikes

The Federal Capital Territory Administration has charged residents who have been fully vaccinated to go for a booster jab to prevent contracting the 4th wave of COVID 19.
Those who have not got any jab at all should endeavor to go and get vaccinated.
This admonition was given Monday in Abuja by Dr. Abubakar Tafida, Secretary, Health and Human Services Secretariat, HHSS during the annual health press briefing.
Tafida said in spite of the conspiracy theories, he advised residents and all Nigerians to get vaccinated as vaccinated people have better chances of overcoming the ailment, even if they contract the virus.
He called on religious leaders as well as traditional rulers to use the yuletide period to engage the people on the need to get the vaccines.
The Secretary who said there is an outbreak of the 4th wave confirmed that by Sunday, there were 82 cases of new infection in the FCT.

He assured of the FCT administration’s readiness to contain any outbreak as they have adequate bed spaces for any eventuality.
He emphasized that the none pharmaceutical remained the best strategy to combat COVID–19.
As of Monday, the FCT Secretary confirmed that six cases of the Omicron variant had been confirmed in Nigeria.
Recently, Nigeria had travel challenges with some nations of Europe that placed a travel ban on Nigeria over concerns of Omicron variant which they claimed were detected in some Nigerians and their citizens that traveled from Nigeria.
