CSOs laud Wike for surpassing achievements of previous FCT ministers
The Coalition of Civil Society Organisations has lauded FCT minister, Nyesom Wike for exceeding the achievements of his predecessor in the position.
The coalition’s applause was conveyed to the former Rivers governor during a press conference held at the NUJ Complex in Utako.
The coalition chairman, Center for Gender and Youth Civic Education and Rights in Africa, Friday Maduka along with Ibrahim Lawal, coordinator of the Northern Unity Front led the presentation at the meeting.
They commended his significant strides in infrastructure development within the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to the CSOs, the transformation of the FCT landscape into a massive construction site signifies a remarkable pace of development.
While commending Wike’s infrastructure achievements, the CSOs cautioned against detractors who seek to undermine his efforts in delivering the Renewed Hope mandate for FCT residents.

They urged the minister to refer those implicated in land racketeering activities to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for prosecution.
The coalition expressed regret over the loss of property by many landowners due to the actions of unscrupulous individuals within the FCTA.
“We urge the minister of FCT to urgently collaborate with the EFCC and ICPC to identify and sanction those involved in land racketeering and ministerial approval forgery. Immediate suspension of implicated directors is imperative as they are unfit to partake in the renewed hope project,” the statement reads.
“It’s inevitable that significant progress attracts opposition, but we urge Barr. Nyesom Wike to stay focused on the transformation of the FCT. We hope other ministers will emulate this approach,” it added.
The CSOs expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Wike as FCT Minister and pledged unwavering support for his transformative agenda.
