As residents of the Federal Capital Territory join other Nigerians to celebrate the 64th independence anniversary, Minister of the FCT Nyesom Wike has called for resilience. He remains committed to the Territory’s infrastructural development.
In his message yesterday, Wike charged residents to be resilient and key into President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda while he navigates the turbulence of reforms toward a better Nigeria.
The message stated, “This year’s Independence Day comes when we, as a nation, face significant challenges—economic, security, and social. However, as the capital city and the nation’s heart, we must demonstrate resilience and take charge of building Nigeria to fulfill our dreams.
“On this note, I wish to assure all residents of the FCT that the Federal Capital Territory Administration remains committed to the infrastructural development of the Territory, enhancing security, providing quality services, and improving the overall quality of life for everyone in the nation’s capital.
“We remain committed to creating an inclusive society where opportunities abound for all, and no one is left behind.”
Wike, who charged Nigerians and residents to key into the Renewed Hope Agenda of Mr President, noted, “In line with the Renewed Hope Agenda, we must commit to fostering national unity and progress. The FCT is at the forefront of these efforts, and we will continue to ensure that Abuja remains a symbol of hope, a centre for opportunities, and a place of peace for all Nigerians.”
He called for unity and charged residents to take personal responsibility and commit to development and progress
“As residents of the Federal Capital Territory, we occupy a special place in the heart of our nation. As the seat of government, Abuja symbolises the unity of our people from all corners of Nigeria.
“It is a melting pot of diverse cultures, ethnicities, and traditions coexisting harmoniously. This unique blend of diversity is a strength and hope for a brighter future.
“I urge every resident to reflect on the spirit of our national day and take personal and collective responsibility for the development of our communities. Let us stand together to support security efforts, promote peace, protect our environment, and be our brother’s keeper,” he said.
Wike also called for the remembrance of our founding fathers, whose efforts have led to the building of a home called Nigeria.
“Let us also spare a thought for our founding fathers whose vision, determination, and sacrifices laid the foundation for the Nigeria we call home. Their commitment to a united, strong, and prosperous Nigeria continues to guide our journey, and we must honour their legacy by embracing the values of unity, peace, and collective progress.”
