Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has ended months of political speculation by formally endorsing Deputy Governor Murtala Garo as his running mate for the 2027 governorship election.
The declaration came during a strategic meeting with federal political appointees of President Bola Tinubu at the Kano Governor’s Lodge in Abuja.
The endorsement effectively settles succession calculations within the administration and signals the Governor’s intention to maintain continuity and political stability ahead of the next electoral cycle.
According to the Governor, the decision was informed by Garo’s loyalty, competence and contribution to governance since assuming office.
“I have no regrets for choosing Garo as my deputy, and he has proven to be the right choice so far.”
Yusuf described the deputy governor as a dependable ally whose support had significantly contributed to implementing the administration’s programmes across the state.
“He has demonstrated competence, dedication and a strong sense of responsibility in the discharge of his duties.”
The Governor also used the occasion to urge party leaders and supporters to close ranks ahead of the 2027 elections.
“We must remain focused and committed as we consolidate on our achievements and move forward together.”
