A pan-Okpe socio-political and cultural organisation, the Okpe Peoples’ Forum (OPF), has endorsed Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for a second term in office, citing what it described as remarkable achievements recorded within three years of his administration.
The group also commended the governor for sustaining development projects across the state and congratulated him on emerging as the governorship candidate of the 2027 election.
In a statement issued on Thursday and signed by its President, Igho Akeregha, and Secretary, Edward Agba, the forum praised Oborevwori’s leadership style and his implementation of the M.O.R.E agenda, which it said had translated into visible development across Delta State.
The group further lauded the ruling party for conducting what it described as a peaceful and united governorship primary.
“In just three years in office, the Okpe people and indeed many Deltans are satisfied that Oborevwori has surpassed expectations through his tireless commitment to the rapid transformation of the state,” the statement said.
According to the OPF, the administration has executed major infrastructure projects, including flyovers, bridges and extensive road networks in the Warri/Effurun metropolis and other parts of the state.
The group also cited the completion of a five-storey High Court Complex in Asaba and various empowerment initiatives targeted at youths, skilled workers and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
It noted that the state government had expanded the Delta CARES programme to support vulnerable residents through grants and direct interventions, thereby reducing poverty and stimulating economic activity.
On healthcare, the forum said the administration rehabilitated 150 Primary Healthcare Centres and introduced free maternal healthcare for pregnant women as well as free medical care for children under five years.
The statement added that tertiary and secondary institutions in the state had undergone significant upgrades, including the installation of modern medical equipment at the Delta State University Teaching Hospital in Oghara.
The group further praised the governor for sustaining bursary payments to over 32,000 Delta students in higher institutions nationwide and increasing funding for state-owned institutions.
The OPF also commended Oborevwori’s financial management, noting that the state had not borrowed funds over the last three years and had reduced its debt profile.
While reaffirming support for the governor’s re-election in 2027, the group urged him to intensify efforts to address electricity supply challenges, unemployment, industrialisation, and food security across the state.
