The people of Ikoro Community in Edo state has raised the alarm on plan by some “unscrupulous elements” to cause crisis in the state.
The Amaokosuwei of Ikoro, Chief Alaowie Owu Bright who raised the alarm in a press statement, said the plan is to instigate crisis between it and the Benin kingdom.
Owu who doubles as the spokesman of Ikoro community, said the ground plan is to use the death of late Prince Edun Akenzua, Duke of Obazua, to cause disaffection between the people of Ikoro and Obazua.
The spokesman stressed that the people responsible, had started unfolding the plan with the announcement of the burial programme of the late Duke
He alleged that in the burial programme that was posted online, the “evil people” mentioned the late Edun Akenzua as the Duke who also preside over Ikoro community whereas they (Ikoro) has an Amaokosuwei as the community head and the Pere of the Olodiama kingdom
Owu noted that Ikoro which is part of Olodiama kingdom remained under the leadership of HRM Godwin Ogoyinbo, the Alagbabunafa III, Pere of Olodiama kingdom.
“Addressing the late Duke of Obazua prince Akenzua Edun as Duke of Ikoro in a recent video posted online for the lined up programs fon his funeral arrangements is a reciepe for crisis and a child of necessity.
“We totally condemn an online video within the midia space were the Duke of Obazua was refered to as Duke of Ikoro is totally unacceptable, false identity and impersonation of the highest order.
“We dare to say that this is alien to the Ikoro people who have no affiliation nor cultural resemblance with the Binis of Obazua.
“It’s also important to note that the Ikoro people are not in any guise under the leadership of any Duke of Obazua, a title that is alien to the Ijaw people and Ikoro Community.

“It’s a well know fact that the Ikoro people are entirely Ijaws flesh and blood and the communities under Olodiama kingdom, are under the firm leadership of HRM Godwin Ogoyinbo, the Alagbabunafa the 111, Pere of Olodiama kingdom.
“This fact is not strange to the late Prince Akenzua Edun because his brother, HRM Solomon Akenzua, the then Oba was sent by their father to represent him in one of the instalations of the Pere of Olodiama Kingdom.
“While we call on the Edo State goverment, the Nigeria military, Inspector General of Police and the Director of DSS in Edo state to call the sponsor of that publication to withdraw all information that bears the Dukedom of Ikoro without any further delay.
“The public should also be aware that plans are underway to Install the next respectively.
