Edo State Police Command said it has arrested one Mr Sunday Igbinokhuaihe, a 63-year-old grand father for allegedly defiling a 2-year-old minor.
The Command’s image maker, DSP, Chidi Nwabuzor confirmed the arrest of the suspect to newsmen in Benin City.
Nwabuzor added that the police had completed investigation into the matter and the suspect would be charged to court within the week.
He said the matter was reported at the Urhonigbe Police station and the suspect was arrested before he was later transferred to Abudu Police Division.
ThisNigeria, gathered that the incident happened in Urhonigbe in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of the state.
The suspect was said to be a neighbour to the parents of the little girl.
The sexagenarian was alleged to have lured the girl into his room with a loaf of bread while the little girl’s mother was preparing dinner in the kitchen.
He was also alleged to use his finger to penetrate into her private part.
Bubble, was however burst when the little girl screamed while the mother attempted to bath her in the evening. The screaming was said to have prompted the mother to inquire from the little girl what the problem was.
It was gathered that the little girl was said to have described to her mother, how the 64-year-old grand father used his finger on her private part, a situation that prompted the mother to raise an alarm that attracted neighbours.
A reliable source said the medical test conducted on the little girl showed that there was a contact in her private part.
The suspect was subsequently transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department, SCID, of the Edo State Police command in Benin city, where he is currently being detained pending the conclusion of investigation.
