Edo Speaker Impeachment-There Has Never Been a House of Assembly in Edo-Osagie

By Ben Ogbemudia, Abuja

The former Minority Whip in the House of Representatives, Hon. Samson Osagie on Tuesday reacted to the impeachment of Hon. Frank Okiye by the 10 member House of Assembly saying that the accomplices in the travesty of the doctrine of Separation Of Powers in the Edo State of Godwin Obaseki governorship will have a pay check for their misdeeds gradually.

Osagie who spoke with ThisNigeria in Abuja said, “Frank my very good friend has never had my support for being part of the Charade in the Edo legislature, alas if this impeachment is true. I reckon that he will find our counsel much more poignant rather than continue in error.

“In Edo there can be no properly constituted House with the Edo 14.

He said that the declaration of their seats vacant was part of the gunboat strategy of the  emperor in Osadebay avenue to continue his quest to annihilate the legislature and run a government that is unaccountable.

“Contrary to the Constitutional provisions of S. 90 and 91 of the 1999 Constitution how can a house of assembly in Nigeria have less than 24 members and even carry an impeachment of their leader, imposing a less experienced and Grey horn colleague .

“But how long will they continue in error and suffocate the majority out of the floor.

No democrat will tolerate the reign of impunity in the Edo State legislature.”
