EFCC arrests ex-Skye Bank chairman Ayeni over alleged N36bn, $30m fraud

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has reportedly arrested the former Chairman of Skye Bank Plc, Mr. Tunde Ayeni, over allegations bordering on a N36 billion and $30 million fraud.
Ayeni was said to have been taken into custody as part of an ongoing investigation into suspected large-scale financial misconduct involving transactions allegedly executed during his leadership at the bank.
Sources familiar with the development disclosed that the EFCC is examining the movement, approval, and utilisation of the funds in question, as well as possible breaches of financial regulations and due process.
The anti-graft agency is also reportedly tracing linked accounts and financial flows to establish the extent of involvement of other individuals or entities connected to the case.
As of the time of filing this report, the EFCC has yet to issue an official statement confirming the arrest or providing further details on the allegations.
