Ekiti CP order tight security, caution criminals

The Commissioner of Police, Ekiti State Command, Mr. Moronkeji Adesina, has ordered security heads to beef up security across the 16 local government areas of the state so the citizens have a hitch-free Easter celebration.

Adesina rejoiced with residents, especially the Christian faithful, on the occasion of the 2022 Easter celebration, commemorating the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Adesina, in a statement on Friday by the Command’s spokesman, ASP Sunday Abutu, said due to the celebration all the Area Commanders, Divisional Police Officers, operational heads, and Intelligence Officers are to ensure adequate deployment of operatives to all the strategic points across the State.

He said”This is to forestall any form of breach of security while charging officers deployed to be professional in the discharge of their duties. I warn evil-doers who may want to foment trouble to steer clear because our men are on the ground.

“Let me assure all citizens of adequate security before, during, and after the Easter celebration as enough operatives have been deployed across the State”.

In a related development, the Senator representing Ekiti Central Senatorial District, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, urged Nigerians to pray for sustained development, peace, and security of the country to ensure its sustained unity beyond 2023.

The Chairman of, the Southern Senators Forum, added that the multifaceted crises of insecurity, economic depression, corruption, and mistrust that are threatening the country’s foundation require concerted efforts and fervent prayers for them to be surmounted.

The All Progressives Congress chieftain said this in his congratulatory message to Christians on the occasion of the Easter celebration, which symbolizes the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ.

Bamidele said the time has come for all citizens to rise above the primordial sentiments of self-interest, political inclinations, and ethno-religious bonds and cry in unison for the nation to be saved from impending doom.

The federal lawmaker opined that the existing fractures in the country’s economy, politics, religion, and ethnicity have been having a toll on its existence, urging the citizens to rally support for leadership at all levels in the spirit that the death and resurrection of Jesus preach to mankind.

Bamidele said: “Nigeria has never been this challenged in history. The problems pose daunting and traumatizing, but nothing is difficult for God to do if will rightly direct our prayer supplications on an occasion like this.

According to him,” the cases of killings, kidnapping, and ethnic mistrust is quaking our foundation and our bond of unity is gradually tearing, which portends danger to our existence as a nation.

“But I share that belief that we shall overcome if we stand on the rock laid by Christ and pray through the blood he shed on the cross of Calvary.

“The lesson of death and resurrection is instructive that we must love, sacrifice, and be our brother’s keeper and this is the righteous path all Nigerians must tread to be able to build our nation together”.
