A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has said the party’s decisive victory in Saturday’s Ekiti governorship election has strengthened its prospects of reclaiming power in Osun on August 15.
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye described Governor Biodun Oyebanji’s re-election as a strong endorsement of the APC’s governance model and a signal of growing support for the party across the Southwest.
According to him, the outcome of the Ekiti poll demonstrated that voters reward performance, party unity and effective grassroots mobilisation.
“The Ekiti result has shown that when a party is united, focused and committed to grassroots engagement, victory becomes very easy,” he said.
Oyintiloye argued that the scale of the victory would boost the morale of APC supporters in Osun and energise the party’s campaign ahead of the governorship election.
He commended the APC National Working Committee, led by National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Sen. Ajibola Basiru, for what he described as strategic leadership that has strengthened the party nationwide.
The former lawmaker also credited former Osun governor and Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, with sustaining the party’s structure since the 2022 governorship election.
He said Oyetola’s continued engagement with party members and stakeholders had helped consolidate the APC’s base and position it for a strong electoral contest.
Oyintiloye expressed confidence that APC governorship candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO), would benefit from the momentum generated by the Ekiti victory.
“The victory secured by the APC in Ekiti will be replicated in Osun. The people widely accept the party, and this is a clear signal to the ruling party to brace for defeat,” he said.
He maintained that growing unity within the APC and increasing acceptance of its candidate across the state were indications that the party was on course for victory.
“Our candidate is ready, the party is ready, and the electorate are ready to repeat the same victory in Osun,” Oyintiloye added.
