The embattled former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, has been remanded and taken back to Kuje prison due to his inability to provide the N300m bail specified by a Federal Capital Territory (FCT) High Court.

Emefiele was charged with six modified counts of fraud by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC.

His lead counsel, Mathew Burkaa, told journalists after the court sitting that his client was yet to meet the bail conditions.

The application for Emefiele’s bail had already been obtained by his attorney.
