#EndSARS: Buhari ordered killing of Lekki Toll Gate protesters, Reno Omokri alleges

Tobi Adebayo
A former Presidential aide, Reno Omokri has accused President Muhammadu Buhari of ordering the shooting of unarmed #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos.

Omokri made the accusation in response to the report by the Lagos Judicial Panel of Inquiry that indicted the Military and the Nigeria Police Force in the shooting of protesters on October 20, 2020.

The Justice Doris Okuwobi-led panel had on Monday, November 15th, submitted its report to the Lagos State Government.

In the 309-page document titled “Report of Lekki Incident Investigation Of 20th October 2020”, the panel revealed that at least 48 protesters were either “shot dead, injured with bullet wounds or assaulted by soldiers.”

“The atrocious maiming and killing of unarmed, helpless and unresisting protesters, while sitting on the floor and waving their Nigerian flags, while singing the National Anthem can be equated to a massacre in context.

“It was alleged and corroborated that the soldiers had their vans parked at the Lekki tollgate and removed as many bodies and corpses of the fallen protesters, which they took away with their vans,” part of the report read.

Reacting via Twitter on Tuesday, Omokri alleged that President Buhari gave the order to the Army to shoot innocent protesters “for his selfish interest.”

“To prove to you that Buhari personally ordered the #LekkiMassacre of innocent, unarmed, peaceful #EndSARS protesters, just go and rewatch his June 10, 2021, AriseTV interview, where he accused #EndSARS protesters of wanting to “remove me”. Buhari killed them out of self-interest!,” Omokri tweeted.
