Ex-BBC Journalist Macjob Becomes Iyabo Obasanjo’s Spokesperson

Former British Broadcasting Corporation journalist Gbolahan Macjob has been appointed spokesperson to former Ogun Central senator Iyabo Obasanjo.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by Obasanjo’s media office on Monday.
According to the statement, Macjob is expected to use his experience in journalism and media communication to publicise Obasanjo’s views, activities and public engagements.
“His professional profile and published work indicate experience in broadcast journalism, including contributions to BBC reporting,” the statement said.
Macjob’s appointment comes as Obasanjo returns to active politics in 2026 after pursuing an academic career in the United States, according to the statement.
Obasanjo represented Ogun Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2007 to 2011. She also served as Ogun State Commissioner for Health before leaving public office to pursue an academic career abroad.
The statement said Macjob’s background in journalism and broadcasting would support communication across traditional and digital media platforms.
Beyond journalism, Macjob is also a filmmaker, a background the statement said could contribute to efforts to develop the creative sector in Ogun Central.
“In addition to his journalistic experience, Macjob, also a filmmaker, brings his expertise in the creative sector – Nigeria’s second-largest employer after agriculture and one he’d be keen to scale up across Ogun Central,” the statement added.
