Federal lawmaker constructs 4 schools in 3 years, emphasises priority for education

 Rep. Wale Raji, representing Epe Federal Constituency, in the House of Representative says he has established four schools within three years to enhance education opportunities for underprivileged children in his constituency.

The schools are located at; Temu, Ilege, Owu-Ikosi and Oko-Abe, saying that the Junior Secondary School in Temu had been in operations at J.S.S 3 level, but was upgraded to senior secondary level.

Raji disclosed during in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Epe, on Thursday.

The lawmaker said that the projects were part of his commitment to promote quality education especially at the grassroots.

He said that the project was for the underprivileged children to have access to quality education for better life which is imperative for the overall development of the country.

He added that all the schools built were government approved and are now open for teaching and learning.

The three newly built junior secondary schools at Ilege, Owu-Ikosi and Oko-Abe are currently admitting pioneer JSS1 students into the schools.

According to him, government had deployed teachers to the schools to ensure that students have access to quality education and my constituents are happy for that.

He said that the initiative was in line with the federal government’s efforts to tackle the problem of out-of-school children in rural communities and ease the burden of parents in promoting literacy in Epe area.

Raji said that he had also attracted several other projects, including the construction of more than 300 lock-up and open stalls to promote local commerce.

He said that the projects had created employment opportunities for many residents and contributed to the economic growth of the constituency.

He added that cooperative society loan grants running into millions of Naira had been extended to small business owners, while food palliatives, agricultural tools, fertilizers and cash supports were provided to farmers and other beneficiaries.

He noted that youth empowerment remains one of his top priorities, saying that vocational and technical training programme, scholarship opportunities and students’ engagement initiatives were part of his achievements/intervention as well.

The lawmaker stressed that his interventions were designed to make his constituents self-reliant, boost household income and reduce unemployment.

He assured that more development-oriented projects would be rolled out in the coming months.

“I will continue to give back to my constituents and ensure they enjoy the dividends of good governance and effective representation,” Raji assured.(NAN).
