FG inaugurates advisory council of Defence College

The Federal Government (FG), has inaugurated the National Defence College Advisory Council for the growth and development of the foremost military Institution.

The Minister of Defence, Muhammad Badaru Abubakar, while inaugurating the Council at National Defence College, Abuja, charged members of the Council to make the best use of the opportunity to contribute their quota to the growth of the college.

The Director of Press Ministry of Defence, Mr Henshaw Ogubike, in a statement said that the council was the first of its kind in the over three decades of the College’s history.

Pointing out the importance of the Council, the Minister, said, “Advisory Council plays crucial roles in the growth and development of institutions”.

He said: “Distinguished Chairman and members of this Council, your acceptance to serve this great Institution once again is highly appreciated and commendable. There is no doubt that your wealth of knowledge and experience would be needed at this critical time in the history of the College”.

He commended the College Commandant, Rear Admiral ON Olotu for his vision and foresight in establishing the Advisory Council.

The Minister also appreciated the Chairman, Rear Admiral AG Adedeji (Rtd) and other members of the Advisory Council who are past Commandants of the College for accepting to serve the institution they once led and cherished.

Badaru reassured the Commandant of the College that the Ministry of Defence will continue to support the College in fulfilling its mandates.

The Commandant of NDC, Rear Admiral Olotu said the inauguration of the National Defence College Advisory Council was aimed at sustaining institutional memory and to continuously tap from the experiences of the Colleges’ past leadership.

applauded the Minister for bestowing the responsibility to serve on them and promised to bring in their experiences to move the college forward in line with global best practices.
