A residential building along Okpikpi Street in the Iyara area of Warri, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, was on Tuesday night completely razed down by the fire.
Although no life was lost in the incident, witnesses said that properties worth millions of naira were consumed by the inferno.

The cause of the fire disaster was yet unknown as of the time of filing this report.
A resident of the street who sought anonymity however alleged that the fire outbreak started in the room of a female tenant in the compound.
According to the source, residents of the street, particularly youths, made spirited efforts in preventing the ravaging fire from spreading to the neighboring compounds before the arrival of men of Delta State Fire Service.

Speaking with journalists on the inferno, the Youth Chairman of the community, Majemite Akubor, expressed sympathy with victims of the fire disaster.
He however admonished that residents should be mindful of what they did with naked fire in order to avoid such unfortunate incidents.
Akubor appealed to the state government, organisations and public spirited Nigerians to come to the aid of the victims.
