First female Vice-Chancellor for University of Calabar

Professor Florence Obi, from the Faculty of Education, defeated thirteen other candidates to emerge as the first female Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar.
Obi, previously the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, is in line to replace Professor Zana Akpagu, who steps down from office on the 30th of November 2020.
While receiving her appointment as the new Vice-Chancellor of the school, she said, “I am happy that I have just been given my employment letter from the 12th Council as the Vice Chancellor-elect and the 11th substantive Vice-Chancellor effective from December 1, this year.”
Obi was encouraged by Senator Nkechi Nwaogu, Chairman of the Council and Pro-Chancellor, to ensure the legacies of the previous administration are not relegated into oblivion but built upon.
