The headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Akure was razed by fire towards the end of the week.
The cause of the fire is still unknown but members of opposition parties in the state are already pointing fingers at INEC for foul play.
Their grudge is that the fire outbreak occurred exactly a month to the election, and they would not be coerced into using manual card readers under the guise that the electronic card readers had been destroyed in the fire. As such, they are requesting a thorough investigation into the cause of the fire.
However, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu assured the people, during his visit to the INEC headquarters, that the electoral process would not be disrupted as a result of the fire.
