Some members of the Rivers State House of Assembly have claimed that Governor Siminalayi Fubara is plotting to demolish their Quarters.
Led by Martin Amaewhule, the group, at a press briefing on Thursday alleged that Fubara, giving no regards to a subsisting court order, plans to demolish the quarters located on Aba Road in Port Harcourt, the state capital.
They claimed that the governor wants to use the gimmick of renovating the building to destroy it, but the lawmakers maintained that the building is very sturdy.
Taking journalists round the premises to inspect, Amaewhule, who spoke for the group said none of the lawmakers complained to Fubara about the state of the quarters.

Also speaking, another lawmaker, Justina Emeji, called on the international community, and other well-meaning people to intervene and call the governor to order.
The Amaewhule-led Assembly also dismissed claims by some lawmakers loyal to Fubara that a new Speaker was elected on Wednesday.
In a six point statement signed by Emeka Amadi, the clerk of the Rivers State House of Assembly, the statement said there was no change in leadership structure of the House as Martin Amaewhule, Dumle Maol, and Major Jack remain Speaker, Deputy Speaker, and Majority Leader respectively.
The statement further clarified that apart from the seat of Khana II constituency which was declared vacant, no other seat has been declared vacant.
Furthermore it stressed that Victor Oko Jumbo, Sokari Goodboy, and Adolphus Timothy, who were suspended in October last year, are yet to have their suspensions lifted as of this moment.
