While there is succor in many neighboring states and some towns in Ondo state, commercial drivers in Akure, the Ondo State capital are still witnessing persistent scarcity of the Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) caused by the union of oil marketers and oil dealers’ directives.
Reports from other parts of Ondo State revealed that the product was available and motorists do not have to queue.
A commercial driver who spoke in confidence said the filling stations are following instructions from the union.
According to him, Akure petrol dealers are too greedy, fuel scarcity is only in Akure due to the exploitation of the oil marketers’ association, I traveled far out of Akure to buy fuel, there was no queue at all.

However, a petrol station attendant along the Akure/Owo expressway said most of the stations in Akure do not lift the product at the normal price, hence the scarcity.
He said that unlike some other stations outside the state capital, most stations in Akure don’t get the product from the depot at the normal price.
The attendant said in his station they sell for N190 per liter, stressing that they buy from the depot at the rate of N180 per liter.
