Fuel subsidy: NLC to embark on another nationwide strike

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has said it will go on another warning strike over the hardship faced by Nigerians as a result of fuel subsidy removal.

President of the NLC, Joe Ajaero, made the declaration on Friday after the union’s National Executive Council while speaking on resolutions by the NLC National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting the previous day.

The strike is scheduled to commence on Tuesday, September 5.

NLC said the Federal Government is unwilling to implement some of the resolutions from previous meetings with the government.

On August 2, the NLC and affiliate unions staged nationwide protests against the removal of the subsidy on petrol and the attendant hardship on Nigerians, after issuing a seven-day ultimatum to the federal government to reverse all “anti-poor” and “insensitive” policies.
