Frontline presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party, Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers state, has urged Oyo delegates to support his ambition to fly the party’s flag in the 2023 elections.
Doing so, he assured the delegates was one step towards occupying Aso Rock presidential villa, and reviving the country which he said had virtually broken down in all sectors.
Wike, who spoke to a crowded hall of delegates from the 34 local governments, including BOT members, elder statesmen , National and state assembly members, said his presidency will bring succour to Oyo people and indeed other parts of the country.
“I will be an effective and efficient commander-in-chief. I will be in charge, I won’t pass the buck. Security chiefs under my administration will live up to their responsibilities. No excuses will be tolerated,”he said.
We need a president who believes in unity of Nigeria – Wike
“What do we have today? Banditry everywhere. Banditry is the only legacy and project of this administration. From January to March alone, over 1000 persons have been lost to killings. That’s why I urge you dear delegates of Oyo state to give me your votes so that we can take power and rescue this country from this government that has completely failed.”
Wike said he was the most competent and capable of all the aspirants seeking the party’s mandate.
“I stood by you when it mattered most. When some of them left to form the ‘new PDP’ and brought this bad government to power, I stood with the party. Some said they left to go to school after we fought hard and supported them when they got the ticket. What kind of insult is that? It’s a question of integrity and character. Don’t give your votes to someone who will abandon you again,” Wike said.

Gov. Seyi Makinde, former gov Ayodele Fayose, Elder Wole Oyelese, former special duties minister, former First Lady of Oyo state, Chief(Mrs) Ladoja, Mrs Abosede Adedibu among other prominent southwest leaders welcomed the presidential aspirant to the interactive session which took place at the Government House, Ibadan.
On Wike’s entourage was the leader of the team, Dr Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo, former governor of Gombe state; former Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Bello Adoke SAN; Senators Lee Maeba and Olaka Nwogu among others
