Group honours Magistrate Isong for contributions to gender, societal development

Two nongovernmental organizations the  Profiles & Biographies and Gender Perspective have honoured Lady Magistrate Isong for her contributions to the development of the girl child as well as the society in Calabar.

By the award, Lady Isong has been included in the 100 leading women in Nigeria which is an annual qualitative profiling of the country’s phenomenal women.

Speaking in Calabar while presenting the award to Bishop Isong, Ubi Onen the director of Profiles & Biographies and Gender Perspectives said the organisation has acknowledged her efforts to make a positive difference.

He said the award is a gender-specific biographical compendium that responds to existing gender gaps in Nigeria biographical documentation and leadership.

“The award is to encourage Lady Magistrate Isong and let her know that whatever they do in their little corner the world is watching.

“There is so much the woman does for the development of the society and is not reported so this award is meant to acknowledge the woman and let them do more”, he said.

In her response, Lady Magistrate Isong who is also the wife of the PFN National Publicity Secretary Bishop Emmah Gospel Isong said she is encouraged a d privileged to be among the 100 leading women in Nigeria.

“I feel privileged to be selected among the 100 leading women in Nigeria.

“I never knew people will take note of what I am doing.

“Just a little kindness, care and concern for where I stay and people I live with has projected me to be among the 100 leading women in Nigeria”, she said.

She pledged to continue with what she has been doing and encouraged everyone to shine as the light of God so that the society will be peaceful and pleasant.

Lady Magistrate Helen Emmah Isong joins The State Chief Judge, Justice Akon Ikpeme, the President, Nigeria Academy of Science, Professor Eka Braide; a renown development expert, Dr. Eka Esu William as well as the DG of WTO Prof. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, among other outstanding women profiled in the biographical compendium on top women leaders in Nigeria to mark the 2021 International Women’s Day.
