Kaduna state has adopted castration as punishment for anyone who is found guilty of rape. This is to serve as a deterrent to potential rapists in the state.
The law to castrate rapists was approved by the Kaduna State House of Assembly during the week and is proof that Kaduna state is serious about eliminating rape and other social vices from the state. However, while receiving a courtesy visit from some women at the Government House, Governor Nasir El-Rufai hinted that existing laws regarding rape would be reviewed to accommodate capital punishment for rapists.
The passage of the castration bill into law was confirmed in a tweet by the official Kaduna State House of Assembly’s Twitter handle @Kadlegisture.
